Commercial Production
Program activities:

The 6-week training program provides hands on work experience with commercial packaging of food products, navy apparel/ equipage, kit production and packaging. This is a paid work experience that provides real commercial contract experience and an introduction to the various career pathways in commercial production, packaging and warehousing. Training includes order fulfillment; folding, sealing, sorting, bundling; small parts packaging, and inventory control/warehousing. Participants are trained in workplace safety, and mail tasks, including shipping and receiving.

CWS’ most recent partnership is with Mightier, an innovative organization that developed a program of bio-responsive video games to help children learn emotional regulation and deep breathing skills. Mightier will be employing individuals enrolled in the Commercial Production/ Packaging program to help assemble, package, and ship their program kits. Job seekers will have the additional opportunity to obtain their Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) General Industry Work Safety Certification. Students are eligible to apply for employment with Community Work Services’ Commercial Production Team.

The Job Readiness Program focuses on building professional soft skills and learning how to conduct a successful job search.
Courses include personal branding, workplace etiquette, getting along with co-workers and supervisors, resume writing, and interviewing skills. Participants also attended tours of local employers, on and off sites hiring events and mock interviews with hiring managers and professional volunteers (2 weeks).
