Job retention participants are graduates of the Teaching Kitchen work-based learning program, who have successfully gained employment within the food service industry. Job retention services are highly individualized and based on the needs and goals of the individual. Services include, at minimum, weekly or biweekly check-in (by phone, in person, or by email) by Teaching Kitchen staff. Participants are offered the following types of support on an as needed basis:
– support processing successes and challenges that arise in their place of employment, and determining any suggested actions to support successful employment
– referrals to community-based resources to support the retention of employment, including but not limited to transportation, clothing/ uniforms, telephone or computer access, childcare, housing, etc.
– Coaching in the form of guidance and practice conversations to help participants feel prepared to navigate any difficult conversations or tensions in the workplace
– Support navigating any changes in benefits as a result of employment income, and referrals to local financial empowerment and family prosperity support services as needed
– Coaching for individuals who wish to pursue a promotion during the 90 days that Job Retention services are provided
Ages 18+ and proficient in English. Must be a graduate of the Teaching Kitchen work-based learning program, who has successfully gained employment within the food service industry.

Job retention services can be offered remotely or in person, depending on the needs of the individual.
Job retention services are occasionally provided on site at the individual’s place of employment, depending on their need.
