Program Type
Program Activities
This program will train students to become Peer Support Workers. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support workers help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse related to trauma and/or mental health conditions. Students will build foundational skills and practices with a focus on career coaching and navigation, mental health, addiction, advocating for people in recovery, sharing resources and building skills, building community and relationships, leading recovery groups, and mentoring and setting goals.
Participants usually have lived experience of recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or both. They provide support to others experiencing similar challenges
Career coaching, professional skills, job search strategies, and resume assistance will be provided and contextualized to the human service field.

We understand that emergencies happen. Attendance is expected at all modules to receive credit for the program. Excused absence will be at the discretion of the instructor.
