Since we work with a vulnerable survivor population, we like for volunteers to learn the Principles of Peace that inform our work and how we engage with survivors of homicide as well as signing a confidentiality agreement upon completion of our Volunteer orientation. If someone wants to volunteer regularly, we do require a Volunteer Orientation which is usually held quarterly, especially if they are working with sensitive and confidential information. If people want to volunteer for a one-time event, then an orientation is not necessary though we still want them to be familiar with the Principles of Peace as well as our Multicultural Guidelines and Touchstones that all inform our work as volunteers will be in close quarters with survivors 100% of the time which include staff.
