Program Type
Program Activities
The ESOL for Healthcare Program teaches job readiness, hospital-specific vocabulary, patient interaction, and safety procedures.
The program is for:
- Immigrants with intermediate English proficiency (Fluent English speakers will be referred to other programs)
- Unemployed or underemployed low-income adults
- Residents of the Greater Boston area
Class topics:
- Healthcare vocabulary
- Patient Interaction
- Safety
- Finding and applying to jobs online,
- Preparing resumes and other application materials, and
- Interviewing for jobs.
Participants will also meet weekly with a career counselor to receive one-on-one job placement services.

Other Schedule Information
The class time of 9:45am-1:15pm includes a 30-minute lunch break.
Career Counseling/case management is 1 hour/week, scheduled based on the student and advisor's mutual availability, therefore, hours may differ from the schedule above.
