Employment Support Services
Program activities:

This program helps SNAP clients improve job search skills and earn a Work Readiness Certificate. It includes an exploration of employment interests, a job skills assessment, mock interviews, and employment placement support.

A job developer will provide potential employment leads and work with participants to revise cover letters and resumes as needed.  Computer access and instruction is provided throughout the program, enabling participants to research job openings and submit job applications.

Curriculum:

  • Goal setting/ career exploration, resume and cover letter assistance and completion
  • Access to employment listing sources and navigation through process
  • Effective interviewing workshops with virtual mock interviewing
  • CORI education and sealing services
  • Demonstration of professional presentation in the workplace
  • Identifying personal learning styles and skills, to apply and use in the workplace
  • Building communication/ interpersonal skills in the workplace and networking in the community
  • Social media and etiquette
  • Understanding workplace expectations and time management
  • Customer service workshop

All participants receive case management services on an ongoing basis to assist them with their needs and interests and help them achieve their program goals.

Upon job placement, participants will be enrolled in job retention services and contacted on a monthly basis by the Job Developer as additional support.

Participant demographics:

Unemployed, economically disadvantaged individuals who need an upgrade on their job searching skills. The program supports households who are enrolled in a homeless shelter or community-based programs.
