This program will start students on the process of becoming a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach in Massachusetts. Students will build foundational skills and practices with a focus on peer coaching communication & wellness, mental health, addiction, cultural competencies, Recovery Coach Academy, Ethical Considerations. Career coaching, professional skills development, job search strategies, and resume assistance will be provided and contextualized to the human service field.
Who Should Apply? This training program was developed and designed for individuals in recovery (with at least 9 months of sobriety) and individuals with lived experience.
This program has 13 modules that run from 3 hours to 30 hours each. In general, students can expect to be in class 4 times per week, mostly weeknights for 3 hours, Mon - Thurs. One module will be Mon - Fri evening from 5-9pm. ALL sessions of this module must be attended to receive credit for the program. There may be one full day Saturday session for Mental Health First Aid certification. In addition to the 13 modules, students will be eligible for/expected to participate in, a 30-hour internship at a Recovery Center or related Allied Health facility. Students will have a role in identifying and securing their internship.
