Become a Nursing Assistant & Home Health Aide in 10 weeks! The NDEC-L Nursing Assistant Program provides supportive, high quality training to prepare compassionate caregivers for employment as nursing assistants and home health aides.
Students receive classroom instruction, skills practice, clinical experience, Basic Life Support training, development of general employment and academic skills, and direct connection to local health care employers. You learn the content and skills necessary to pass the Massachusetts state test to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and the MA Home Care Aide Council test. You also receive job coaching and preparation (resume writing, cover letter development, interview preparation, exploration of job opportunities, critical thinking), computer skills (keyboarding, emailing, Google Docs and Slides), Dementia Care training, and Basic Life Support training and certification.
The program also includes a personalized job fair, mock interviews with local employers, 5 days of clinical experience at a long-term care facility and an optional job shadow opportunity at Lawrence General Hospital. NDEC also offers post-graduate advising and assistance to help our graduates navigate employment and workplace challenges, as well as next steps to higher education and additional training.
