This course gives an overview of the variety of human service career paths and theoretical approaches used in the field. History and current trends are examined as well as working with culturally diverse populations. Special emphasis is centered around working with developmentally disabled populations. Students are provided with a sampling of the skills, ethical values, and helping process used in the field.
This course provides training for students to recognize the mental impact of the social and economic environment on clients. Students receive training and related certification in Mental Health First Aid, CPR/First Aid and MAP (Medication Administration Program).
