Funeral service professionals play an essential role in supporting individuals and families during one of life’s most difficult moments. They provide compassionate care, guidance, and services that ensure the deceased is honored with dignity and respect while helping loved ones navigate the grieving process.
At Goodwin University, the associate degree in Funeral Service prepares students for a meaningful and in-demand career in the funeral industry. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning experiences designed to develop both technical and interpersonal skills. Students gain knowledge in areas such as embalming, restorative art, funeral directing, and business operations, along with the ethical and regulatory standards that govern the profession.
The program offers flexibility to meet the needs of diverse learners. This is a rigorous 65-credit curriculum that can be completed in as few as 16 months for full-time students.
A key component of the program is the internship experience, where students work directly in funeral homes. These placements provide real-world exposure to essential responsibilities, including embalming operations, first calls, removals, and funeral directing duties—ensuring graduates are workforce-ready upon completion.
