This 20-week online program for Beginner Level English Language Learners is taught by a live instructor with much interaction.
The ESOL for Workforce program is designed to provide English language learners with the necessary language skills and cultural competencies to communicate effectively in various workforce settings. This program focuses on developing English skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while integrating essential workplace communication skills.
The program emphasizes career readiness by incorporating job search strategies, resume writing, interview skills, and workplace etiquette into the curriculum. By the end of the program, students will be equipped with the language proficiency and confidence needed to pursue entry level employment opportunities or to grow and thrive in their current employment situation. Students are encouraged to continue to Beginner English Language Level II upon completion of the program.
Course Competencies:
English Language Development: Speaking and Listening Skills, listening comprehension exercises, Pronunciation practice, Reading and Writing Skills, reading comprehension tasks, writing workshops, Grammar and vocabulary building exercises.
Workplace Communication Skills: Effective Communication Strategies, Role-play and simulations, Business correspondence writing, Telephone etiquette, Teamwork and Collaboration, Group projects and discussions, Conflict resolution techniques, Cultural awareness training.
Career Readiness: Job Search Strategies, Resume writing workshops, Job application assistance, Interview preparation, Workplace Etiquette, Professional conduct guidelines, Dress code norms, Networking skills development.
Cultural Competency: Understanding Workplace Culture, Cultural sensitivity training, Diversity and inclusion discussions, Cross-Cultural Communication, Cultural norms and expectations, Overcoming language barriers.
