The Nurse Aide training program will provide you with entry-level job skills that allow you to enter the health care field and prepare for the Massachusetts state board examination to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and also receive your certification in CPR. Students learn to care for residents in long-term care facilities and will practice the following skills: personal patient care, patient rights, lifting and turning patients, safety, infection control, bed, bath and feeding, vital signs record keeping, mental health care of residents and stress management.
Topics will include:
The Home Health Aide training will prepare a CNA to provide care in a patient’s home after completion of their program or certification, depending upon state requirements. The primary focus is placed on personal care and home management for patients, but students will also learn about family issues, meal preparation, social activities, housekeeping, and more. HHA’s must also deal with legal and ethical issues, so these topics are also discussed during the course.
The Alzheimer's and Neurological Disorders module includes: Dementia vs. Alzheimer’s Disease, personality changes, physical and emotional changes, and old and new strategies when working with memory-impaired individuals.
