Participants must be at least 18 years of age, qualify as low to moderate-low family income limits, have HS diploma or HSE, & demonstrate academic readiness eligibility on Accuplacer assessment.
The Biomedical Careers program trains adults for sustainable life sciences careers with a pipeline to local, high-demand employment opportunities. The program provides education and training on workforce skills aligned with industry needs, the development of soft skills that are crucial to employers, and support services that address barriers to education, employment, and career advancement.
The nine-month, tuition-free program includes classroom instruction accompanied by hands-on learning as well as career development training, networking opportunities with professionals and employers, and ongoing job search and Alumni Services support. Program participants are able to earn college credits.

The first semester of training is focused on academic, classroom-based training in Biology and Chemistry Fundamentals. The second semester of the program focused on Biotechnology laboratory skills training. During both semesters the students work on career and job readiness skills. Breaks for 2024-2025 are December 23 - January 3, February 17-21, and April 21-25.

Stipend paid as a wage
Currently, our program only pays a stipend to students who are Somerville or Cambridge residents through contracts with the cities of Somerville and Cambridge.
