ESOL Supported Coding Certificate Program
This 12-week online program for English Language Learners with Intermediate to Advanced English Skills is a series of courses taught by live instructors with much interaction.
The first course in this series, Digital Literacy, will teach students how to use Outlook to create and manage calendars, Video Conferencing applications such as Zoom and GoToMeeting, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Throughout the entire Certificate Program students will participate in supported ESOL studies to improve their English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills with an emphasis on math vocabulary.
The skills portion of this program will include an Introduction to Python, and Software Development Using Python.
Course instruction will include both technical and employability skills training and will prepare participants for workforce readiness or industry certification to meet the very high demand for these types of occupations in the local labor market. Participants will explore career options and gain employability skills, which will include knowing how to provide good customer service to meet employer needs by developing effective communication strategies and using collaborative teamwork.
Learners will practice coding in an online environment and develop their knowledge and skills using data structures such as strings, lists, and range sequences, as well as methods for working with these structures Students should also be prepared to take and pass the relevant certification exams. Students will build on these skills by using JavaScript code for supported data types and write simple code.
This program is FREE for qualified SNAP Recipients.
