Organization Overview
The Springfield Food Policy Council's initiatives focus on fighting hunger and nutrition inequity, expanding access to fresh, affordable and culturally appropriate foods, and developing urban agriculture in Springfield.

We are eager to engage Spanish, Vietnamese, French, Haitian Creole and African language speakers and are fine with limited English
Volunteer Activity
We need folks to help with peer outreach to neighbors living with food insecurity. We want to ensure that folks know about public benefit programs like HIP https://www.mass.gov/massachusetts-hip-gives-you-money-back-when-you-use-your-snap-benefits-to-buy-healthy-local-fruits-and-vegetables-from-hip-farm-vendors. We will also have gardening opportunities beginning in Springlike
Volunteer Schedule
No minimum or maximum. Opportunities available now Tues-Fridays and occasional Saturdays. Gardening opportunities available Mon-Sat beginning in Mar/April
Other Volunteer Information
Should like working with people for cold weather and community outreach work. Less important for spring and summer garden work.
